Nancy O'Dell's radio career started as a journalist and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle beach, South Carolina. Later, she was a anchor of the morning news and as a crime reporter for WCBD-TV. The journalist's report on the lack of responses of police officers in response to DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which resulted in a new policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell was then employed by NBC's Miami-based station WTVJ-TV as a investigative reporter and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role of co-anchor for the weekend. Her current position as host for Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC, and NBC News. She's covered the Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards and co-hosted several Pre-ShowArrivals Shows for The Emmys And The Golden Globes. In addition, she hosted the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
